Viña Los Chocos
Los Chocos is a Mendoza word, referring to dogs that live freely in the countryside. This freedom, combined with an understanding of the region's pure and raw terroir, represents the personal project of Rodrigo Reina, great-grandson of Filipe Rutini. The project began in 2009 when the first vines were planted in Gualtallary, on the micro-plot named Albo. Gualtallary Albo gets its name from the large number of white stones in its soil that reflect the light and expose the structure of the extremely poor soils composed of pure limestone and sand. After 10 harvests to understand the place, Rodrigo works 100% with his own grapes, launching the young and promising winery onto the market.
The Uco Valley presents a unique terrior at 1550 meters altitude, the organic grapes reach perfect ripeness, resulting in very delicate work with almost no intervention in the fermentations. Always using native yeasts, 100% of the fermentations take place in eggs and small concrete tanks, with aging in large French oak barrels of various uses.
