Domaine serguier
is a historic, family owned winery in the heart of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, where generations of dedication have shaped a winemaking legacy. Established in 1890, the estate has been carefully passed down, preserving its deep-rooted traditions while embracing modern techniques. Today, Serge Badoz continues this work, cultivating vineyards that include three 85 - to 104 year old Grenache vines, planted by his great-grandfather and grandfather, which produce the refined and delicate grapes.
Since 1997, Daniel’s efforts in re-cultivating plots, introducing Syrah and Cinsault, and assembling a collection of 13 grape varieties have unlocked the full potential of each terrior.
Conscious of the need to work with nature, they are committed to an agricultural approach which respects the interests of future generations. Some plots in the Châteauneuf du Pape and Côtes du Rhône appellations have been planted with grass, which is just mown, so that the soil can be naturally enriched and aerated by microorganism (earthworms and insects).
The plots in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Lirac are maintained and their flora and fauna diversified through the planting of trees and shrubs (olive trees, apricot trees, oaks, prickly juniper, rosemary, thyme…). As well as creating a harmonious landscape, these ecosystems encourage pollinating insects (bees) and provide a haven for wildlife (birds, hares and rodents).
To ensure that our products are of the finest quality, we wait until our wines are fully mature so they best exemplify the appellation. But it is the terroirs, the vintages and the weather which define our products; we are merely the supporting actor – and much less the protagonist.
